It’s hard to believe the end of season is upon us, but with it being Week 9, teams have one last chance to secure playoff berths or keep their hopes alive by getting to five wins.

Following are a few games from the C & G Sports coverage area with serious playoff implications.

Shamrocks in the postseason?

Roseville High (2-6) vs. Eastpointe High (5-3) –– 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Memorial Stadium

Eastpointe locked up a share of the Macomb Area Conference Gold Division title last week and has the opportunity to lock up a playoff spot against the Panthers in Week 9. The Shamrocks have just one postseason appearance in school history, which was back in 2010. For Roseville, it’s an opportunity to end the season on a high not and carry some momentum into next season.

Staying alive

River Rouge High (7-1) vs. Southfield A&T (4-4) –– 7 p.m. Oct. 25

River Rouge has already clinched a spot in the postseason, but Southfield A&T desperately needs a win to have a chance. Southfield is coming off of a loss to Rochester Adams, and River Rouge downed the Warriors 45-0 last season. Southfield’s last playoff appearance came back in 2016. A 5-4 mark isn’t guaranteed, but the Warriors have to win to give themselves a shot.

Catholic League Clash

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett (4-4) vs. Madison Heights Bishop Foley (5-3) –– 7 p.m. Oct. 25

Both teams are currently on the outside looking in, with neither having enough wins to automatically qualify. The two programs have never played prior to this meeting, and what better way to open a series than a game with major playoff implications. Both teams have won two straight to give themselves a chance, and this one should be close.
