1. Sterling Frights Halloween

Sterling Frights Halloween is creeping back to Dodge Park, 40620 Utica Road in Sterling Heights, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event is aimed at kids 12 and younger, and promises candy, cider, doughnuts, costumed Halloween characters, a straw maze, hay rides, a DJ, inflatable playscape activities, games, a craft area and more. No registration is necessary, but families can learn more by visiting sterling-heights.net/calendar.aspx?EID=7783.

2. Motor City Comic Con
Oct. 14-16 • Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi

The Motor City Comic Con will hold its second event of 2022 from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi. Scheduled guests include Arthur Darville, Karen Gillan, Alex Kingston and Matt Smith, of “Dr. Who” fame; shock rocker Alice Cooper; and wrestler Booker T. There will also be a “Hocus Pocus” viewing and commentary event; three professional comic artists taking part in an art duel; a cosplay contest for adults and kids; appearances by Ghostbusters Detroit; and more. 3. Pig & Whiskey
Oct. 14-16 • Downtown Ferndale

Enjoy barbecue, booze and more at the 12th annual Pig & Whiskey festival Oct. 14-16 in Ferndale, near Woodward Avenue and East Troy Street. Ten restaurants are scheduled to participate, some with vegan choices. Hours will be 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. Sunday. 4. 'Playhouse on Haunted Hill'
Oct. 14-16 • St. Dunstan's Playhouse, Bloomfield Hills

St. Dunstan’s Theatre Guild will present “Playhouse on Haunted Hill,” a spooky comedy by West Bloomfield playwright Jake Zinke, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $18 for ages 62 and older or 18 and younger. St. Dunstan's Playhouse is located at 400 Lone Pine Road, between Woodward Avenue and Lahser Road, in Bloomfield Hills. Parking is available in the Cranbrook House and Christ Church parking lots. 'Tiny Beautiful Things'
Also starting this weekend, Grosse Pointe Theatre’s Purdon Studio Theatre will perform "Tiny Beautiful Things" at the Undercroft at Christ Church Grosse Pointe, 61 Grosse Pointe Blvd. in Grosse Pointe Farms. The play — based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos — will run 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
