HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A two-story home in the 24000 block of Trombley Street, near Union Lake Road, in Harrison Township was destroyed by a fire that started in a detached garage the night of March 24.

Harrison Township Fire Department Chief Mike Lopez said the blaze erupted at approximately 11:15 p.m. He said that when crews arrived at the scene, the detached garage was fully involved, as was the second story of the home.

The residents of the home were able to evacuate without injury, the chief said.

“There were also a number of cars and motorcycles and a boat in front of the (garage) that were destroyed as well,” he said. In addition, neighboring homes sustained minor damage to their exteriors as a result of the heat and smoke.

Lopez said last week that the cause of the fire was still under investigation. He said crews worked throughout the night to completely douse the fire.

The Harrison Township Fire Department was assisted by crews from Mount Clemens, Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores and Chesterfield Township.
