Farmington Hills police are investigating a home invasion reported in the early morning Nov. 10 at a residence on Oxford Avenue, near Shiawassee Street.

According to a press release, at approximately 1:10 a.m. Nov. 10, a resident heard the sound of an unknown man coming from the front door area of the home. When the resident investigated further, they saw the suspect, described as an African-American man between 20 and 25 years old wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a dark colored baseball cap standing in the front door of the home.

The suspect fled in a small gray colored SUV, heading southbound on Oxford Avenue, toward Independence Street.

Farmington Hills Assistant Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez said residents should remember to “lock their doors and turn on exterior lights” to deter potential criminals from trying to enter their home.

Police will be increasing patrols in the area as they investigate the incident. Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as soon as they see it.

Any information regarding this incident should be reported to the Farmington Hills Police Department by calling (248) 871-2610.
