EASTPOINTE — “It feels so great to be here,” performer Kevin Lepine said from Las Vegas last week. “I’m living my dream as a Vegas headliner. It’s been a blast.”

For the past year, the 1993 East Detroit High School graduate has wowed crowds at the Harmon Theater inside Planet Hollywood in “Hypnosis Unleashed.” Every Thursday evening, the Sin City showman brings brave audience members on stage to perform funny antics while under his hypnotic spell.

“Everyone up on stage has the time of their lives,” Lepine said, who’s been performing since he was a teen.

Lepine is bringing the show to the place where it all began for him. On April 27, he’ll perform “Hypnosis Unleashed” at the Comedy Castle in Royal Oak. Show time is 8 p.m.; the event is for those 18 and older.

“To me, the Comedy Castle is home,” said the homegrown showman, who has performed in all 50 states and throughout Europe. “That’s where I first saw my heroes perform.”

Lepine has a number of skits planned, including his staple of people fighting for $100 bills. He’s keeping the rest of his show a secret until curtain call.

“Hypnosis Unleashed” was the brainstorm of Vegas entertainers Michael Johns and Terry Stokes. The performers around Lepine forever amaze him.

“One of the coolest things out here is that heroes have become people, and those people have become friends,” Lepine said. Being around so much talent has “forced me to become more creative,” he added.

Comedian Ron White, Shawn Michaels of World Wrestling Entertainment fame, astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller are among the celebrities he’s met in Vegas. About three weeks ago, Lepine and Lady Gaga performed at the same event.

“She was doing a surprise for a visit for her fans,” Lepine said. “She was really polite and very pleasant. It was really cool.”

The Comedy Castle is located at 310 S. Troy St. in Royal Oak. Tickets for “Hypnosis Unleashed” are $15 each or $10 per person for groups of 10 or more. The Comedy Castle can be reached at (248) 542-9900.
