ROCHESTER — Market-goers have another chance to grab the freshest Michigan goods this summer in downtown Rochester.

Beginning July 30, the Rochester Downtown Development Authority is inviting shoppers to its Thursday Night Market.

The new market will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 27 in the upper level of the East Parking Platform, between East University Drive and East Fourth Street.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to bring Thursday Night Markets to our community and promise an experience that is both engaging and safe,” DDA Executive Director Kristi Trevarrow said in a statement. “We hope people will join us to enjoy a night out in downtown while supporting small businesses.”

The market will feature over 20 vendors, including farmers, crafters, artisans, downtown retailers and more.

DDA Events Coordinator Jenna O’Dell said market-goers can expect to see businesses like Bizzy Buzz Artisan Market, Final Touch Designs, @ Home Furniture, Nan’s Butter Factory Co., Reinhardt Blooms and Little Donut Factory.

“It’s just a mini popup shop, so if people aren’t comfortable going into stores or whatnot, they can just shop at our Thursday Night Market. Or if you just want to see what downtown businesses have to offer, the Thursday Night Market is definitely a fun place. We’ll have some light music, and it should be a good night,” O’Dell said.

The Thursday Night Market complements Downtown Rochester’s Farmers’ Market, which is held 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays through October at the corner of East Third and Water streets, one block east of Main Street.

Due to COVID-19, the DDA will be monitoring capacity at the Thursday Night Markets and asks customers to be patient if they experience a wait prior to entering the market. The DDA is also asking all market customers to wear a face covering, enter from the main gate entrance, be mindful of 6-foot social distancing while shopping and refrain from touching vendors’ products. Parking is free in Downtown Rochester through Sept. 7.
