WARREN — De La Salle Collegiate High School officials have named Thom Lipari as the honoree for the 34th annual Christian Brothers’ Dinner.

“Thom showed tremendous leadership on the Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Connie, have been outstanding supporters of Catholic education,” De La Salle President Br. Thomas Lackery said in a prepared statement.

Lipari’s sons are DLS graduates: Jimmy, Class of 2001; Chris, 2002; and Matt, 2005. The Liparis’ two daughters, Laura and Lisa, attended Regina High School in Warren.

Thom Lipari, of Clinton Township, is a 1968 graduate of Harper Woods Notre Dame High School, which closed in 2005. According to a DLS press release, Lipari was invited to join the DLS Board of Trustees in 2007 and served two three-year terms. While on the board, he served on the Finance and Properties committees.

After high school, Lipari attended Oakland University, pursuing engineering studies and some business classes.

But according to school officials, he decided he did not want to be in an office and joined his father in the family business that made and delivered barbecue sauce.

The business grew, and Lipari is now the president and CEO of Lipari Foods, with nine divisions headquartered in Warren.

The 34th annual Christian Brothers’ Dinner will be held April 30 at Penna’s of Sterling Heights, located at 38400 Van Dyke Ave. Tickets are $200 and are available through the school’s advancement office at (586) 541-6250 or online at thepilothangar.com.
