WARREN — Warren Cousino senior wing Kate McArthur led all scorers with 20 points in the Patriots 56-26 Dec. 11 win over Warren Mott.

The Patriots are now 2-1, while the Marauders fall to 1-2.

McArthur started hot, scoring 15 points in the first quarter and hitting four three-pointers.

Cousino has won its last two by an average of 22.5 points per game after a three-point loss to Bloomfield Hills Marian in the season opener.

"We've lost to Marian in our opener the last few years and it always serves as momentum for us because we know we're a good team," said McArthur, a Central Michigan University commit. "That loss kind of motivated us to play the way we have the last couple of games."

The Patriots jumped out to an 18-2 lead and led 21-4 after the first quarter.

Eight Cousino players scored in the game. Patriots senior guards Mackenzie Cook and Jasmine Asberry, and senior forward Racheal Adewussi each netted seven points in the win.

Senior forward Nia Nelson led Mott with 11 points — nine in the second half.

New Cousino coach Amy Mitchell called the win a total team effort.

"We obviously have some standout players but it's important for us to play and win as a team and we didn that tonight," Mitchell said.

Cousino's next game is against Sterling Heights High at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 on the road.

Mott's next game is against Center Line High at 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at Warren Woods Tower as a part of the Crosstown Showdown.
