EASTPOINTE/ROSEVILLE/ST. CLAIR SHORES — In an effort to fix a highway that has been in “rough shape” for quite some time, overnight and weekend work is scheduled to begin on Interstate 94, between Eight Mile and 11 Mile roads, Sept. 23.

“Drivers will be affected by this ... project during nights and weekends,” said Diane Cross, of the Michigan Department of Transportation. “Overnights and weekends will have only one lane open and there will be big delays at times.”

The $6 million project will be completed by late fall. It will include milling, resurfacing, concrete repair and joint repair through the cities of Eastpointe, Roseville and St. Clair Shores.

Work will occur mostly during nights and weekends, with one lane closed in each direction from 8 to 10 p.m. and then an additional lane closed at 10 p.m., leaving just one lane open until 5 a.m. The closures will remain in place from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday each weekend.

“The roadway has been in rough shape for a while now. We finally got the funding to do the work, and we want to address the issues ASAP,” Cross said.
