Car wash employee struck, killed by pickup exiting car wash

An employee of the Jax Car Wash at 2835 Maple Road, near Coolidge Highway, died after  reportedly being struck by a Ford 150 pickup truck exiting the car wash just after 1:15 p.m. Feb. 25.

Troy police Sgt. Meghan Lehman said two employees of the car wash were struck.

Both were transported to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

“One is deceased. The other is still being treated,” Lehman said.

Marcos Rodriquez, 45, of Pontiac, was later identified as the victim who died.

“It’s an open investigation,” Lehman said. “The driver, a 64-year-old male, is not in custody.”

Lehman said police are investigating the possibility of a vehicle malfunction, driver error, drugs, alcohol and distraction.

“There is no indication of those factors, but we are looking at everything.”
