The body of a missing man was recently recovered from the Rouge River, police said.

According to an email from Deputy Chief Nick Loussia, of the Southfield Police Department, the body of Robert James Brunsden, 88, was found around 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Rouge River, near Telegraph and 10 Mile roads.

Police said previously that Brunsden was last seen around 6:45 p.m. Sept. 7, when he walked away from the Franklin Terrace Memory Care Facility, at 26962 Franklin Road.

The Oakland County medical examiner was scheduled to perform an autopsy Oct. 7 to determine Brunsden’s cause of death, Loussia said in an email.

Loussia said in a previous report that Brunsden had dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
