FERNDALE — A body was found behind a building on Hilton Road July 6, and local police said that there were no signs of foul play.

According to the Ferndale Police Department, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a resident found the body of a woman behind 1521 Hilton Road.

A press release states that when the body of the woman was found, it was apparent, due to the body’s condition, that the person was deceased.

The press release also states that as the body found at the scene had yet to be verified and family had not been notified, the woman’s identity had not been released.

“(There were) obvious signs of death, so no type of lifesaving measures were initiated, and the body’s been turned over to (the Oakland County) Medical Examiner pending identification and determining the cause of death,” Ferndale Police Sgt. Baron Brown said.

Brown also confirmed that there didn’t appear to be signs of foul play at the scene.

“You look for — initially, and it’s very preliminary — but you look for signs of trauma, a sign of a struggle, stuff like that,” he said of what police look for to indicate foul play.
