After a contentious campaign period, Bloomfield Township voters decided to renew an existing millage to fund police and fire services.

With 100% of precincts reporting in the township just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, results show that 64.9% of voters were in favor of continuing collecting the up to 1.2401 mills for  a bond that was approved a decade ago.

More than 17,000 votes were cast at the polls and via absentee ballot. It’s estimated that just over $5 million would be collected in the first year.

“We’re very happy,” Chief Phil Langmeyer said just after the results were confirmed on election night. “It’s good to know residents are supporting us, and we can just move forward. We can continue to get back to doing the job we do.”
