GROSSE POINTE WOODS — The Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Citizens Bank at 19307 Mack Ave.

According to a press release from Detective Anthony Chalut, a suspect entered the bank with a note that said, “This is a robbery.” The suspect said he had a gun, although no weapon was seen, the press release states. The note was given to one teller, who complied with the robber’s demands.

During a follow-up phone interview about the bank robbery, Chalut could not comment on how much money had been taken. He added that nobody was injured during the bank robbery, but the bank teller was shaken up.

Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect to the media. Police described the suspect as an approximately 40-year-old black man with a medium to dark complexion who stood about 6 feet tall and appeared heavyset. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a red hoodie-style sweatshirt and blue jeans.

According to Chalut, evidence at the scene was gathered and was taken to the lab.

“We’re awaiting the results,” he said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division at (313) 343-2412.
