MACOMB TOWNSHIP— The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is crediting an alert citizen with aiding in the May 10 arrest of an armed robbery suspect and his getaway driver accomplice.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., officials said, an armed man dressed all in black walked into the CVS store at 23 Mile and Romeo Plank roads. He reportedly showed a note to the cashier demanding money while displaying a black handgun, which would later be identified as a replica BB gun.

After the cashier gave him the money, the suspect fled the store, ran to a waiting car, and was driven away from the scene.

A witness in the parking lot saw the suspect acting suspiciously and notified police with the license plate number of the car.

As the suspect allegedly laid down in the backseat of the car, the driver drove north on Romeo Plank, then turned around and headed south. A deputy spotted the vehicle, a 1994 Chrysler Le Baron, heading south on Romeo Plank and made a traffic stop directly in front of the CVS, said Lt. John Michalke.

Three deputies converged on the vehicle and noticed the man in the backseat of the car.

Deputies recovered the BB gun, money and the note.

The suspects, Robin Walker 50, of Mount Clemens, and Crystal Maree Hilliard, of Clinton Township, are charged with armed robbery, which is a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

The subjects were video-arraigned in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township. Walker was given a $250,000 cash or surety bond, while Hilliard’s bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

Both requested court appointed attorneys, who had not been named as of press time.

The suspects are due back in court May 20.
