STERLING HEIGHTS — The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce’s spring grub crawl is ready to hit the road again, and that means restaurants along M-59/Hall Road will be presenting some of their choice specials.

This year, the Grub Crawl on Hall will take place June 20. Melanie Davis, chamber president and CEO, explained that last year’s grub crawl happened at the Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township due to road construction along M-59/Hall Road in the Lakeside Mall area.

“We decided it was a nice, fresh change for a year, and people enjoyed it,” Davis explained. “But we wanted to bring it back to M-59 this year, reintroducing (that area) to the community.”

Davis said the upcoming grub crawl had, at last count, nine participating restaurants, though the chamber was still trying to pull some other ones into the event. The named restaurants so far include Applebee’s, bd’s Mongolian Grill, Buca di Beppo, DiBella’s Subs, Mod Pizza, Qdoba, Red Ox Tavern, Sahara Mediterranean Bar & Grill, and Wellington Pub.

According to organizers, participants start the event by getting a special attendee sticker and a swag bag at a staging area in Lakeside Mall’s parking lot. Then people may take a shuttle bus from stop to stop or drive themselves to the different eateries. At each stop, the dining establishments will serve special examples of their food.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to give our members a chance to show off what they can do for the residents in our area and maybe give the residents a chance to explore the restaurants they have not tried before,” Davis said.

“And once in a while, you may find your new favorite restaurant. And there’s also networking involved as well.”

Carlos Shaw, manager of Red Ox Tavern in Utica, said that over 300 guests have attended the grub crawl in the past. He outlined some of the specials that his place may serve this year.

“I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the quesadilla, potato skins, handmade guac, and chips and salsa,” he said.

The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Grub Crawl on Hall will take place 5:30-10 p.m. June 20 at participating restaurants along Hall Road. Admission costs $30 per individual, $50 per pair and $200 per group of 10.
