ROCHESTER HILLS —  Join the Santa parade Nov. 17 and watch the Village of Rochester Hills turn on its holiday lights with a fireworks display.

The shopping center’s annual Light the Village holiday tradition includes music, entertainment, food and more.

“The fireworks have become one of the highlights of the event, along with the lighting of our village and, of course, the arrival of Santa,” Village Marketing Director Shelleen McHale said in a statement. “The city of Rochester Hills brought us an amazing light show two years ago, and this year it will grow with a sponsorship from Ascension Crittenton Hospital.”

In addition to a 25-foot Christmas tree, 800,000 lights will set the shopping center sidewalks and mini parks aglow. Light the Village entertainment will include dance performances, caroling, stilt walkers, mini fire truck rides, hot cocoa and soup, and the rousing tones of the Stoney Creek High School band.

Santa will begin visits with children that night at 8 p.m., continuing Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 24. A special Santa “pet night” will be held 3-6 p.m. Nov. 19 for a $10 donation.

The Village recently welcomed P.F. Chang’s restaurant, which features Asian cuisine. The 5,800-square-foot restaurant is located in the former site of Max & Erma’s.

An Amazon pop-up store is currently open inside the Village Whole Foods Market. Amazon, which acquired Whole Foods this summer, said the Village location is one of just a handful of stores in the country with a staffed Amazon pop-up store.

The pop-up store opened Nov. 13.

“It’s not yet known when it will close,” Whole Foods Public Relations Manager Allison Phelps said in an email. Products on sale and available for testing include the Amazon Echo, Fire TV and Kindle e-readers.

Light the Village festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 17, and the parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. All are invited to bring donations to support the local Meals on Wheels program through the Older Persons’ Commission.

The Village of Rochester Hills is located at the northeast corner of Walton Boulevard and Adams Road. For more information, visit
