Stevenson student struck by vehicle

A Stevenson High School student was walking westbound across Dodge Park Road at a crosswalk at Falcon Drive at around 7:30 a.m. Oct. 2 when she was struck by a northbound vehicle. The Sterling Heights Fire Department treated the student and arranged for her hospitalization. According to the city, she suffered a broken pelvis was declared stable.

Police said they are investigating the crash, but they had no signs that drugs, alcohol or speeding were involved. 

Utica Community Schools spokesman Tim McAvoy warned motorists to be careful.

“In general we remind all drivers, when you approach schools, to always be alert,” he said.
