‘Godzilla’ to make appearance at movie screening

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Sir Bernard Gojira-Godzilla, also known as “Godzilla”, will speak at a free outdoor screening of the 1962 film “King Kong vs. Godzilla” at Lake St. Clair Metropark at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.

The appearance is part of Detroit Film Theatre’s “Movies at the Metroparks” program.

Sir Gojira-Godzilla, who was knighted in 1998 for his services to film and urban planning, will speak about his career and future plans before the showing.

The screening is free with park admission. Daily park vehicle entry is $7. Walkers, bicyclists, and inline skaters can enjoy free access to all Metroparks by entering through the park roads and hike/bike trails.

Lake St. Clair Metropark, formerly known as Metro Beach, is located at 31300 Metropolitan Parkway, in Harrison Township.
