METRO DETROIT — Believe it or not, some fall high school sports are already gearing up for the postseason. Girls golf, boys soccer and boys tennis are all set to start elimination matches in early October.

For golfers, regionals officially take flight Oct. 7 across the state. Teams can send out up to five golfers, with the top four scores counting toward the team total. The top three teams in each regional and the top three individual scores on nonqualifying teams advance to the state finals Oct. 18-19.

The Division 1 and D-2 state finals will be held at Forest Akers East and Forest Akers West, respectively, on the campus of Michigan State University. D-3 state qualifiers will tee off at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University, and D-4 golfers will hit the fairways at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek.
