ROSEVILLE — The Roseville Police Department is investigating a carjacking that took place Jan. 19 on Gratiot Avenue in front of a local restaurant.

The incident took place at approximately 3 a.m. near the Del Taco restaurant on Gratiot, north of Masonic Boulevard.

According to police, the victim, a 51-year-old St. Clair Shores resident, reported that he pulled over his minivan to help who he believed was a stranded motorist, as a pickup truck of unknown make and model appeared to be broken down and was smoking. Police said that as the victim was speaking to a woman who was the driver of the truck, two men pulled him from his own vehicle and started punching him. He was then robbed of his money and the woman drove his minivan away from the scene, police said.

The stolen vehicle was described by police as a gold 2006 Chrysler Town and Country with the license plate DSB8965 and a “Last Supper” decal in the rear window. Police are still determining what happened to the pickup.

“We believe it was driven away by the suspects but can not confirm that at this time,” Roseville Police Chief Ryan Monroe said in an email. “We’re still putting it together.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department by calling (586) 775-2100.
