Troy police and other law enforcement agencies are on the search for a suspect believed to be driving a white Dodge Durango in connection with a shooting that put a woman in the hospital.

The shooting occurred at 6:34 p.m. Feb. 19. Troy police responded to reports of a shooting outside the Top of Troy office building at 755 W. Big Beaver Road, in the valet area of the parking lot.

A woman had been struck in the leg and hip areas by several bullets while sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Several shots also struck the vehicle, and a round fragment was found stuck in the front door of the building, shattering the outside glass pane.

“The victim was treated on scene and then transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where she remains in stable condition,” Troy police said in a press release. “A second female and a 4-year-old child were accompanying the female victim but were thankfully uninjured. … The investigation thus far indicates that the victim and/or the accompanying witness were specifically targeted. The suspects' actions also placed a 4-year-old child and restaurant staff and patrons in immediate danger.”

Police said that the victim and witnesses had limited information. Officers did learn that a white Dodge Durango was potentially involved in the shooting, and they immediately put that information out to local departments.

The Hazel Park Police Department located a matching suspect vehicle heading southbound on Interstate-75 and pursued it to the area of Linwood and Warren Avenue in Detroit, where it was lost.

Police are calling this an active investigation and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact their tip line at (248) 524-0777.
