FARMINGTON HILLS — At Griffin’s Neighborhood Auto Clinic, service counter employees Laura and Scott are often the first and last people customers see—and owner Bill Griffin says their teamwork is central to the shop’s success.

Scott has been with the clinic for nearly seven years, coming from a vending company job after pandemic layoffs. Bill had known him for decades, and their shared interest in hot rods and classic cars made for a natural fit. “He assumed the role of service manager,” Bill said. “Over the years Scott has adapted to our way of doing business, cares for our customers and has been an integral part of our success.”

Laura joined the company just over a year ago and quickly became Bill’s right-hand person. As service advisor, she manages customer relations while keeping policies and procedures in place. “She’s been an invaluable asset,” Bill said. “Not only is she great with customers, she’s also very savvy about implementing processes.”

At the service counter, they operate as a team, covering for each other as needed. Scott brings mechanical expertise, while Laura’s personable approach ensures customers feel at ease. They review repair orders together and decide who will speak with which customer, adjusting accordingly based on comfort levels and communication styles.

Scott’s technical knowledge allows him to explain complex repairs in clear terms, and he mentors Laura in presenting estimates with confidence. Her persistence benefits customers, especially when navigating extended warranty claims. “We had a Jeep Cherokee that needed a transmission,” Bill said. “She went to bat for the customer, and by the time she was done, she had gotten $9,500 covered.”

Scott takes the same customer-first approach. When a Mercedes owner faced a costly dealership repair for a locked steering column, he found an alternative solution at a fair rate.

Behind the scenes, both keep the workflow organized, track parts and coordinate with technicians and vendors. “I truly feel blessed to have two well-versed people representing my company on the front line,” Bill said. “They go out of their way to make sure every customer’s experience is the best it can be.”

Griffin’s Neighborhood Auto Clinic also offers tire sales, oil changes, battery replacements, suspension tune-ups, transmission repairs, engine rebuilds, fabrication, performance-driven repairs and upgrades and more.
