CENTER LINE — The Center Line Public Safety Department is looking for information leading to the arrest of a suspect accused of breaking into Van Dyke Gas Co., on Sherwood Avenue, south of Rinke Avenue, early Aug. 26.

The suspect, described only as a white man, was recorded by a surveillance camera at 12:45 a.m. pulling up to the business in a black Ford extended-cab pickup truck. Detectives reportedly observed footage of the man throwing a pipe through the glass door and entering the building.

The suspect was last seen driving south on Sherwood in the truck.

“It’s a clearly obvious truck,” Lt. Thomas Costello said. “There’s no way on the planet the guy can hide this truck.”

The department circulated images of the vehicle and the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with words and a logo on the front. The Ford four-wheel-drive truck appears to have some rust, and the cab is equipped with rooftop running lights.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the truck should contact the officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Danny Petroff, at (586) 757-2200.
