UTICA — The city of Utica will be hosting a Park It movie night in Grant Park Aug. 3.

The event will start at 6 p.m. There will be live music from local band Momford & Sons at 6:30 p.m., and then the movie will begin at 8:15 p.m.

The movie will be the computer-animated “Trolls World Tour.” The 2020 movie features the voice talents of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake.

Carl Gianotti, an employee with Park It, said the company is happy to be back after two years of not being able to have events due to COVID-19.

“Park It is glad to be back after a two-year hiatus — our 13th year. We enjoy partnering with city parks and rec departments to bring free family programming to thousands of families. We are proud to have Meijer as our title sponsor of the Park It tour again this summer,” he said.

Park It nights consist of live music, kids activities, sponsor giveaways and a movie. There will have been 17 Park It nights in communities across southeastern Michigan during the summer.

“We are proud to be hosting a Park It event in the city of Utica,” he said.

Gus Calandrino, the mayor of Utica, said Park It movie nights are a good way to get out and have fun with family and friends.

“The Park It movie event is a fun and inexpensive evening out for families. Thanks to Utica Parks and Recreation for organizing this event, as well as our sponsors, Meijer and PUFF Utica,” he said.

He said there will also be things to buy to help raise funds for local groups.

“In addition to the movie, ‘Trolls World Tour,’ our own Utica Lions will be selling snacks to raise funds for their charitable activities,” Calandrino said.

Grant Park is located at 8201 Hahn St. For more information, go to www.parkitforfun.com.
