GROSSE POINTE WOODS — A leader on both sides of the field, Drew Hill was a vital part of the Grosse Pointe North varsity baseball team’s state finals run that earned it a runner-up finish in the Division I state championship tournament.

The Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association took notice, as it named Hill first team all-state.

Hill slashed .444/.548/.758 and carried a 1.306 on-base plus slugging percentage this season while commanding the leadoff spot. Hill also contributed 42 runs and 25 RBIs on the year.

“It’s the time he puts in; he hones his craft,” Grosse Pointe North coach Kevin Shubnell said. “He’s a perfectionist.”

Currently uncommitted, Hill will enter his senior year at North as the team looks to carry over the success from last season.

“I think he’s the most slept-on player in the state of Michigan,” Shubnell said. “He’s at his best when he’s against the best; he wants to face the best all the time.”
