1. Red, White and Boom
July 1-4 • Clawson

The Red, White and Boom celebration in Clawson sure has a lot of energy in its 90th year! The week-and-a-half-long event, which started June 25, will continue with a kiddie parade at 11 a.m. July 1 in the parking lot of Clawson Middle School, 150 John M Ave. A carnival will take place from noon to 10 p.m. July 2-3 and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4, while an arts and crafts fair will run from 3 to 9 p.m. July 3 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 4, both at Clawson City Park, 935 N. Custer Ave. The Firecracker Race & Parade will begin at 9 a.m. July 4 at 14 Mile and Crooks roads. And finally, a fireworks show will brighten the sky over Clawson City Park around 10 p.m. July 4. 2. Royal Oak Taco Fest
June 30-July 4 • Royal Oak

What's on the menu for the second annual Royal Oak Taco Fest? More than 50 taquerias and eateries will be ready to serve from 4 to 11 p.m. June 30, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 1-3 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 4. Also around Centennial Commons, located at 221 E. Third St., will be four stages of live entertainment, a kids zone, lucha libre wrestling, a pet costume competition, ax throwing and more. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $12 at the gates. For more information on the event and a list of participating businesses, visit royaloaktacofest.com.

3. 4th of July celebration
June 29-July 4 • Huntington Woods

Huntington Woods also got the party started earlier in the week, but has more in store for its 52nd annual 4th of July celebration. Events include a pet pageant at 6:30 p.m. June 29 at Burton Field; fun activities dubbed “Celebrate It” at 3:30 p.m. June 30 at Burton Field; a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Recreation Center and old-fashioned games and races at 1 p.m. at Burton Field July 1; float-a-boat at 9:30 a.m. at the city pool and a scavenger hunt at noon at the Recreation Center July 2; a boxed lunch for seniors at noon at Hassig Park and a freedom bike ride at 7 p.m. starting at the Recreation Center July 3; and a parade at 10 a.m. from Borgman and Woodward avenues to Burton Park, a hot dog roast at 11 a.m. at Burton Field, Boogie Dynomite in concert at 7 p.m. at Burton Field, and fireworks at 10:05 p.m. over Rackham Golf Course July 4. For more information and a map, visit recreation.hwmi.org.

4. Fireworks/patriotic concerts
Various times and locations

The Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak will have fireworks June 29; the Macomb Symphony Orchestra with the 338th Army Band will perform a concert before fireworks at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township June 30; the Veterans Tribute of Oakland Township will host its Independence Day Music Festival July 2; and fireworks will be shot over Sylvan Lake July 3.
