FRASER — After winning one regular-season game, Warren Cousion has doubled its win total in the postseason.
The Patriots took the action to Grosse Pointe North and didn't let up to defeat the Norsemen 4-1 in a district semifinal Oct. 16.
In the regular season, North defeated Cousino 4-1 and 5-1.
Sean Petroski opened the scoring for Cousino with 29 minutes left in the first half. Just more than a minute later, Zach Nodolsky put Cousino ahead 2-0.
Petroski scored again with 13:18 left in the first half, and the Patriots survived a couple of great scoring chances for North to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
Kyle Gatto capped off the scoring for Cousino with a goal six minutes into the second half.
"My kids have heart. The problem we had all year was putting the ball in the back of the net, and I think we saved them all for today," Cousino coach Anthony Sorrentino said.
North got a goal from Chris Bahr with 9:21 to go in the contest. The Norsemen finish the season with a record of 7-11-1.
Cousino goalkeeper Adam Viviano finished the game with 16 saves.
Cousino (3-14-2) moves on to play Fraser High (17-0-5) Oct. 17 in the district final at 7 p.m. at Fraser.
