Warren, Center Line teams knocked out of boys state soccer playoffs

The Warren Mott boys soccer team went 11-6-2 in 2013 but fell in the 2013 MHSAA D-1 district quarterfinals. Pictured is Mott’s Jeff Toggweiler during the Marauders’ district loss to Utica High Oct. 14.

Each of the local boys soccer teams saw their seasons come to an end in the 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association district playoffs.

Warren Cousino fell 6-0 to Fraser High in a Division 1 district final played Oct. 17 at Fraser. The Patriots end the season at 3-15-2 but made a run to the district finals after knocking off East Detroit High Oct. 14 and upsetting Grosse Pointe North Oct. 16.

Warren De La Salle (14-7-3) fell 3-1 to Fraser High in overtime in a D-1 district semifinal played Oct. 16 at Fraser. The Pilots got to the semifinal by beating Grosse Pointe South 1-0 Oct. 14.

Warren Mott (11-6-2) saw its season end in a 5-1 loss to Utica High in a D-1 district quarterfinal played Oct. 14 at Utica High.

Warren Woods Tower (5-10-5) fell 4-0 to St. Clair Shores Lake Shore in a D-2 district quarterfinal Oct. 14 at Lake Shore.

Center Line High (3-11-4) fell 1-0 to Marysville in overtime in a D-2 district quarterfinal played Oct. 14 at Lake Shore.

Warren Fitzgerald (5-10-0) fell 7-0 to Madison Heights Lamphere in a D-2 district quarterfinal played Oct. 14 at Lamphere.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day

Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
