Warren Woods Tower's and Center Line High's girls bowling teams have earned spots in the state finals thanks to some clutch shooting during regionals. Both teams were in action at Oak Lanes in Westland Feb. 23.
Tower won the regional with a pin total of 3,187; Center Line finished third with 3,094.
Both squads will compete in Division 2 in the state finals, which get under way March 1-2 at Century Bowl in Waterford.
During the dual-meet season, Tower finished at 10-2 and shared the MAC Blue title with St. Clair Shores Lakeview and Eastpointe East Detroit. Center Line finished third in the MAC Gold at 8-4.
Emily and Amanda Wozniak, Nicole Meduvsky, Jazmine Gonzales and Alexa Ingram will represent Tower; Ingram also qualified to compete in the individual tournament. Emily Wozniak had the high game for her squad with a 199.
Representing Center Line are Erin Stein, Mariah Kerr, Shayde Brecker, Courtney Domijan, Kayla Bulak and Triston Wyer. Domijan's three-game series of 182, 188 and 196 led the Panthers.
"This was a whole team effort," Tower coach Ron Ingram said.
Center Line coach Ron Nelson said in qualifying for the finals, his team beat two squads that had beaten them in league play in Warren Fitzgerald and Marysville.
"It was a great regional, very close," he said. "It was a great showing by the girls."

Other local girls teams in Division 1-4 advancing through regionals are Lake Orion, L'Anse Creuse North, Walled Lake Central, Macomb Dakota, Sterling Heights Stevenson and Royal Oak Shrine.
Local boys teams taking center stage are Utica High, L'Anse Creuse North, Roseville, Lake Shore, Warren Lincoln and Bishop Foley.
The Division 1 final is at Northway Lanes in Muskegon; The D-3 final is at Airport Lanes in Jackson; and the D-4 final takes place at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights. All the finals are March 1-2.
