March 13, 2013South earns regional title; Knights fall in final

Grosse Pointe South girls basketball captured its second consecutive regional title in as many years after beating Macomb Dakota 59-48 in a Class A regional final March 7 at St. Clair Shores Lake Shore.
South advanced to the quarterfinals, where it was scheduled to face Bloomfield Hills Marian March 12, after press time.
The winner of that game moves on to the semifinals to face either Dexter or Saginaw Heritage, scheduled for 2:50 p.m. March 15 at the Breslin Center, located on the campus of Michigan State University.
Prior to defeating Dakota, South beat Warren Cousino 56-34 in a semifinal game.

Flint Hamady defeated Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 55-38 in a Class C regional final March 7 at Memphis. Liggett beat Marlette 78-44 in its regional semifinal matchup.
