Regina soccer season ends in regional final

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The Warren Regina soccer team saw its season come to a close in a 4-0 loss to Bloomfield Hills Marian in a 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 regional final.

The game took place June 6 at St. Clair Shores Lake Shore.

The Saddlelites end the season at 12-10-2. Regina won its third district title in four years.

“We made some strides this year. We wanted to make it to a regional final and we did,” Saddlelites coach Ryan Elchuk said following the game. “We’re working hard to make Regina one of the elite programs in the state.”

Marian is the defending state champion and has won three of the last four D-2 state titles.

To advance to the regional final, Regina knocked off Livonia Ladywood 1-0 in an overtime contest played June 4 at Lake Shore.
