Panthers cheer team wins MAC Crossover meet

The East Detroit and Roseville high school cheerleading squads took to the floor at St. Clair Shores Lake Shore Dec. 11 for a Macomb County crossover meet that also featured Lake Shore, St. Clair Shores Lakeview, Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South.
Roseville came out on top at the meet, scoring 673.22 points. Grosse Pointe South placed second with 670.38. East Detroit finished sixth with 299.80 points. The Panthers and Shamrocks will next hit the floor for the first of three MAC divisional meets in their respective leagues.
Roseville, members of the MAC White, will compete in a divisional meet set for 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at Romeo against Romeo, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North, Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse, Warren Mott and Clawson.
East Detroit will battle in a MAC Silver meet set for 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at Marysville High and will compete against Marysville, New Haven, Sterling Heights, Fitzgerald and Lake Shore.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
