OAA’s top volleyball players selected for 2016

OAKLAND COUNTY — Nets have been tucked away.
Kills, digs and spikes are reserved for next fall.
But before the 2016 volleyball season totally escapes us, coaches in the Oakland Activities Association have selected the top players from the fall season.
Here’s a look at the final standings and the girls who were named the best of the best.
A total of two games separated first from third place in the Red, but in the end, Lake Orion High took the top spot at 7-0. Clarkston High (6-1), Rochester Hills Stoney Creek (5-2), Birmingham Seaholm (3-4), Bloomfield Hills High (3-4), Oxford High (2-5), Farmington Hills Harrison (2-5) and West Bloomfield High (0-7) made up the rest of the division.
All-Association nods went to Lindsay Wightman, Leah Kalugar, Mallorie Berriman and Danielle Sargent, Lake Orion; Abbey Malinowski, Sarah Austin and Madi Jidas, Clarkston; Molly Asmus, Erika Ward and Mackenzie Wild, Stoney Creek; Alexa Rousseau and Olivia Smith, Bloomfield Hills; Paige Briggs, Oxford; Stefanie Jankiewicz, Harrison; and Vanessa Vigier, West Bloomfield.
It was an identical finish in the White, with the top three teams separated by two games. Troy Athens won the crown, going 7-0. Troy High (6-1), Rochester Adams (5-2), Auburn Hills Avondale (3-4), Birmingham Groves (3-4), North Farmington (3-4), Farmington High (1-6) and Royal Oak High (0-7) gave chase.
All-Association honors went to Elise Leverenz, Alexis Van Hoef, Elizabeth La Rochelle and Nicole Burkosit, Athens; Jessica Robinson, Kelsey Moeller and Audrey Thompson, Troy; Madison Tuscany, Jennifer Harding and Paige Hedlund, Adams; Sydney Smith and Jenna Pershern, Avondale; Kayla Cornett and Ellie Ruprich, Groves; Hayley Qasawa and Mykaela Ross, North Farmington; Courtney Szymkowski, Farmington; and August Maury, Royal Oak.
The Blue went to the girls in blue and white, as Rochester High took home the top spot with a 6-0 finish. The Falcons were followed by Berkley High (5-1), Southfield A&T (4-2), Oak Park High (3-3), Ferndale High (2-4), Hazel Park High (1-5) and Pontiac High (0-6).
All-Association honors went to Madeline Halsey, Maya Gilgenbach, Sydney Jones and Ryan Allor, Rochester; Dana McDowell, Madison Kenrick and Chloe Lister, Berkley; Krista Blakeley and Kayla Batie, Southfield A&T; Sonya Williams and Jada Boyd, Oak Park; Autumn Frederick, Ferndale; and Raena Travis, Hazel Park.
