Macomb County Spring Break Baseball Tournament returns

Fans of Macomb County baseball will have a chance to watch local teams face off when the 2014 Macomb County Spring Break Baseball Tournament takes place next week.
The tournament is slated for April 7-12 at Kyte Monroe Park, 32701 Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores. Games will take place at 11 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. at various fields at Kyte Monroe April 7-10.
Playoff games are slated for 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m. April 12, with the championship game slated for 5 p.m. April 12. April 11 has been designated as the make-up date in case of inclement weather.
Teams participating in the tournament are Clinton Township Chippewa Valley, Auburn Hills Avondale, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore, Utica Ford II, Detroit Western, Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse, Grosse Pointe University Liggett, Utica High, Macomb Dakota, Davison High, Warren Cousino, Armada, Richmond High, Warren Mott, St. Clair Shores Lakeview and Port Huron Northern.
Dakota has won the last two tournament titles.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
