Oakland County prep golf teams took to the fairways and courts in regional action this past week looking to punch their tickets into the state final.
The top three teams and top three individuals on non-qualifying teams move on to the finals.
Here is a look at which local teams and individuals are heading to the finals Oct. 19-20 at various locations across the state. All our local teams and individuals are bolded.
Division 1 at Fox Hills Classic
Brighton High proved to be best with a team-total 347. Farmington Hills Mercy finished with a 359 and Northville High secured the final spot with 374.
Individually, Novi High’s Lauren Cojei and Livonia Stevenson’s Laura Shureb each shot 89, and Walled Lake Western’s Brooke Schwandt finished with 92 to earn bids to the state final.
Division 1 at Twin Lakes Golf Club
It was a good day for Rochester public schools. Though Davison High won the regional, shooting 351, Rochester High and Rochester Adams also qualified after shooting 359 and 364, respectively.
Individually, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek’s Chloe Guschewski shot an 82 to earn a spot in the final. Port Huron Northern’s Dominque Molinaro’s 83 and Midland High’s Amanda Walsh’s 86 were also good enough to qualify.
Division 1 at Dearborn Country Club
It was Utica High’s day in Dearborn. The Chieftains won the regional with a 331 total, while Grosse Pointe South finished second with 338 and Dearborn High finished third with 362.
Troy Athens’ Jennifer Yang punched her ticket to the final with 80. Utica Stevenson’s Alison DeSantis shot 88 and Utica Ford’s Maria Burrell shot 89 to join her.
Division 2 at Farmington Hills Golf Club
South Lyon High blew the competition away with a 345. Dexter High was next closes with 365, and Farmington High secured the final spot with 410.
Division 2 at Pontiac Country Club
Birmingham Seaholm blitzed the field in its tournament. The Maples finished with 333. Fenton High was closest with 361, and Grosse Pointe North captured the final automatic bid with 376.
Individually, Milford High’s Gabby Brackrog carded an 87, Auburn Hills Avondale’s Mackenzie Bloomberg totaled 88 and Milford’s Olivia Kresic shot 89 to qualify.
Division 3 at Willow Metropark
Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood won the tournament with a team total of 343. Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day was second with 345 and Grosse Ile captured the final spot with 353.
Individually, Dearborn Divine Child’s Natalie Blazo shot a 75, while Marysville High’s Jasmine Sattler and Bloomfield Hills Lahser’s Suzanne Miller fired 85s to earn the final qualifying spots.
Division 4 at Stoney Creek Golf Course
Macomb Lutheran North took top honors with a 376 total, 12 shots better than second-place Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart. Ann Arbor Greenhills’ team carded a 395 and finished third.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
