Livonia Stevenson volleyball edges Farmington Hills Mercy

FARMINGTON — Livonia Stevenson volleyball is heading to a Class A quarterfinal.

The Spartans beat Farmington Hills Mercy 25-20, 22-25, 14-25, 28-26, 15-7.

Stevenson faced down two match points by the Marlins in game four on the way to the title Nov. 14 at Farmington High.

“It was a roller coaster for sure,” Stevenson coach Kelly Graham said. “The seniors have been here the last three years and with that leadership, I knew they wouldn’t fold.”

Stevenson senior Katie Tomasic led the squad with more than 30 kills in the match.

“We threw everything we had at them, except me over the net,” Mercy coach Loretta Vogel said. “They were just finding holes and getting great touches off of us on the block.”

Up next, Stevenson takes on Temperance Bedford at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Gibraltar Carlson.
