Hawks, Raiders and Falcons fall in playoffs

FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Hills Harrison boys basketball made a bit of a surprise run in its Class A district before losing in the title game.

After finishing the regular season 7-13 overall, the Hawks opened its postseason with a 66-58 victory against Birmingham Seaholm March 5 at North Farmington in a semifinal.

Earlier in the season, Harrison lost to Seaholm by 11 points.

Bloomfield Hills High proved to be too much for the Hawks, winning the district title 86-48.

In the same district, North Farmington also had its season ended by the Black Hawks, losing 65-50 March 5 at home. The Raiders end 13-7 overall.

Also in Class A, Farmington High lost in its district semifinal 65-47 against Detroit Mumford March 5 at home. The Falcons finish 14-7 overall.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day

Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
