Prep girls golf teams from across the state headed to the fairway in regional action Oct. 9-12 at various locations.
The top three teams and top three individuals on nonqualifying squads earned spots in the state final Oct. 18-19.
In the state championships, Division 1 and D-2 squads head to Michigan State University.
D-3 teams are playing at Grand Valley State University and D-4 squads are at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek.
Here’s a look at the regional action. The local teams and individuals who qualified are in bold.
At Port Huron Golf Club Oct. 9, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek led the way with a 348, which was 19 strokes better than second-place Lake Orion High. Davison High was the third qualifier with 370.
Individually, Midland High’s Amanda Walsh finished with 81, Rochester High’s Veronica Haque fired 83, and Flint Carman-Ainsworth’s Meghan Borgerding carded 84 to qualify.
At the Dearborn Country Club Oct. 11, Troy High proved to be best. The Colts finished with a 333. Grosse Pointe South was second with 337, and Dearborn High nabbed the last spot with 363.
Troy Athens’ Jennifer Yang earned her spot with a 75. West Bloomfield High’s Alexandra Kotsakis and Macomb L’Anse Creuse North’s Megan Sarotte each carded 86 to qualify.
At Dunham Hills Golf Course Oct. 10, Novi High and Brighton High tied with 349. North Farmington finished third with 353.
Individually, Northville High’s Katie Childer shot 81, Hartland High’s Kelsey Erickson carded 83 and Farmington Hills Mercy’s Erica Heath shot 83 to qualify.
At Pine View Golf Club Oct. 9, South Lyon High blitzed the field with a 329. Next closest was Dexter High and its 380. Pinckney High shot 421 for third.
Detroit Renaissance’s Nia Little shot 91, Gibralter Carlson’s Jordyn Francis and Farmington High’s Elie Greenlee each shot 104 to qualify.
At Heather Highlands Oct. 9, Birmingham Seaholm dominated its way to the top with a 331. Fenton High was second with 353, and Auburn Hills Avondale shot 367 for third.
Individually, Holly High’s Paige Johnson shot 85, Brandon’s Kelsey Edwards carded 86 and St. Clair Shores Lakeview’s Kelly Woods tallied 90 to earn spots in the final.
In a battle of the top two teams in the division, Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day shot 347 to beat Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood by one stroke. Warren Regina shot 383 to finish third Oct. 9 at Fieldstone Country Club.
Carleton-Airport’s Olivia Reed shot 85, and Tecumseh High’s Ashley Barth and Paige Rupley each shot 92 to make their way to the finals.
At West Shore Country Club Oct. 9, Grosse Ile dominated with a 343. Macomb Lutheran North was second with 383, and Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard finished third with 402.
Individually, Detroit International Academy’s Evette Booker tallied 92, Nicole Olden shot 95 and Ann Arbor Greenhills’ Caroline Apley carded 97 to earn spots in the final.
