Farmington-area girls hoops teams bow out of state playoffs in district round

FARMINGTON/FARMINGTON HILLS — As quickly as it started, it all came to an end.

The girls basketball state playoffs officially launched Feb. 26 with district action.

All three local teams had their seasons come to a close last week.

In Class A action, Farmington Hills Mercy hosted a district and reached a March 2 final before falling to Southfield A&T 49-45.

Mercy (19-4) defeated North Farmington 44-38 in the district semifinal. The Raiders ended the season at 13-8.

Mercy snuck past Birmingham Groves 51-48 in the opener.

On the other side of the bracket, Farmington High (15-6) was eliminated by Southfield A&T 71-45 in a semifinal.
