March 13, 2013De La Salle, Cousino boys basketball teams meet in district title tilt

Warren De La Salle and Warren Cousino survived their opening-round games and faced each other March 8 for a distict title. The game was played after press time. The Pilots were looking for their 15th straight district title.
In advancing to the district final, DLS (17-4 at press time), which received a bye through the district quarters, bested Warren Woods Tower 59-57 in overtime March 6 in a Class A district semifinal played at Fraser.
Tower, which ends the season 13-8, also received a bye through the quarters. The Titans went 8-4 in placing third in the Macomb Area Conference Gold Division.
Cousino (14-7) knocked off city rival Mott 59-55 in a Class A district semi played March 6 at Fraser.
The Patriots, which received a bye through the quarters, placed third in the MAC Red at 7-5.The loss was the first in more than two months for Mott, which ends the season 20-2. The Marauders went 12-0 in winning the MAC White.
Warren Fitzgerald saw its season come to a close with a 64-57 OT loss to Ferndale University in a Class B district semi played March 6 at Ferndale High. The Spartans, champions of the MAC Blue, tripped up host Ferndale 59-47 in a district quarter played March 4 at Ferndale. Fitzgerald ends the season at 17-4, including an 11-1 mark in MAC Blue play.
Warren Lincoln fell 83-74 to Detroit Osborn in a Class B district semi played March 6 at Lincoln. The Abes, which beat Clintondale 62-52 March 4 in a district quarter, finish the season 11-11, including going 5-7 in the MAC Gold.
Center Line High lost 91-50 to Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy March 6 in Class B district semifinal played at Warren Lincoln. The Panthers (4-16, 4-10 MAC Silver) received a bye in the quarters.
Warren Michigan Collegiate fell 62-48 to New Haven March 4 in a Class C district quarter played at Mount Clemens. The Cougars end the season at 8-10.
Warren Macomb Christian, which received a bye in the Class D district quarters, fell 59-23 to Bloomfield Hills Roeper in a Class D district semi played March 6 at Roeper. The Crusaders end the season at 0-17.
