MACOMB TOWNSHIP — The Macomb Dakota girls golf team, which is still in its infancy, placed third at the 2013 Macomb County girls golf tournament in September.
The Cougars outdid themselves at the 2013 Macomb Area Conference White Division tournament, winning the tournament by tiebreaker over Grosse Pointe North.
The MAC White tournament took place Oct. 3 at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb Township.
Following the tallying of each team's first four scores, Dakota (6-2, 6-2 MAC White at press time) and North (7-1, 7-1 MAC White at press time) each notched a 382. Dakota's fiffth golfer, Payton Trivette, totaled a 106 beating GPN's next lowest, giving Dakota the win.
Dakota's Paige Hamden shot an 88, garnering lowest score of the day honors. Grosse Pointe North's Jordan Parent had the next-lowest total, shooting a 90 on the day.
"Anybody could've won that tournament," Dakota coach Harrison Stackpole said. "What this does is gives the girls some confidence going to Dearborn next for our (Michigan High School Athletic Association) Division 1 regional."
Cougars golfers Madison Solecki, Emma Hill and Alyssa Kujawa shot 95, 98 and 101, respectively, in their team's win.
Fraser finished third at the league meet, but made things interesting, as the Ramblers tallied a 383.
Utica Ford II (390) also wasn't far off. Sterling Heights Stevenson shot a 489.
Marysville romps in MAC Blue tourney
The Marysville High girls golf team was dominant in its win at the MAC Blue tournament, which took place Oct. 3 at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb Township. The win comes on the heels of the Vikings going 8-0 to win the MAC Blue regular season title.
Each Marysville player broke 100, as the Vikings tallied a 370 in the win. Macomb L'Anse Creuse North finished second with a 427.
Marysville's Jasmine Sattler and LCN's Megan Sarotte both shot 88 to lead their respective teams.
