March 13, 2013CV, LCN win districts; Lutheran North falls

The boys basketball teams from Macomb L’Anse Creuse North and Clinton Township Chippewa Valley each captured a Class A district championship, with the Crusaders defeating Port Huron 68-39 and the Big Reds beating Sterling Heights 51-32 in their respective district-final matchups March 8.
Both teams won on their home courts.
The win earned both squads the opportunity to advance in the playoffs, where they faced each other in a regional semifinal March 11. The Crusaders won that game 43-41 and faced Detroit Southeastern, which knocked off Warren Cousino. The regional final was played March 13, after press time. Prior to its win over Port Huron, LCN defeated Macomb Dakota 58-46 in a semifinal contest after receiving a first-round bye. Chippewa Valley defeated St. Clair Shores Lake Shore 49-32 in its semifinal matchup after also receiving a first-round bye.

Clawson defeated Macomb Lutheran North 48-47 in a Class B district semifinal game March 6 at Pontiac Notre Dame Prep. The Mustangs won their district opener against Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingwood 42-36 March 4.
