AUBURN HILLS — Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood is heading back to the Division 2 state final June 6-7 at Forest Akers West in East Lansing.
The Cranes won their regional with a 305 team total, their best tournament mark of the season.
“It’s a really talented group of guys, and they’re looking forward to getting back,” Cranbrook coach John Minnich said.
The Cranes finished third in the state last season after earning the last qualifying spot in their regional to get in. There was no such drama this time around, as Cranbrook was nine shots ahead of second-place Pontiac Notre Dame Prep.
“Yeah, it’s a relief,” Cranbrook’s Robbie Van Voohris said. “We played well, and I thought we deserved it.”
The top three squads earn bids to the final; Beverly Hills Country Day secured the final spot after shooting 321.
The rest of the field included Holly High (327), Auburn Hills Avondale (330), Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (373), St. Clair High (374), Armada High (375), Marysville High (376), South Lake High (387), St. Clair Shores Lake Shore (388) and Madison Heights Lamphere (431).
Along with the top three squads, the top three individuals also are heading to the final. South Lyon East’s Alec Adgate (75), and Avondale’s Jacob Pershern (76) and Nikolas Senkowski (77) qualified.
