HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Warren Cousino senior guard Arthur Asberry netted 20 of his game-high 22 points in the second half to lift the Patriots to a 62-54 win over Harrison Township L'Anse Creuse in a Macomb Area Conference Blue Division matchup Feb. 2 at L'Anse Creuse.

Cousino moves to 7-6, 5-4 MAC Blue. L'Anse Creuse falls to 7-6, 5-4 MAC Blue. The Patriots win created a three-way tie for second in the division with L'Anse Creuse and Anchor Bay. New Haven has already locked up the MAC Blue crown at 9-0. Each team in the league has divisional matchup remaining.

Cousino's Asberry was particularly good in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 of his team's 20 points in the frame.

"I owe my performance tonight to my teammates," Asberry said. "They did a good job of knocking down shots. Their shooting opening up driving lanes for me to get to the hoop."

L'Anse Creuse jumped out to an early 15-8 first quarter lead. Cousino, which hasn't finished above .500 since 2013, ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to cut the Lancers lead to 15-14 heading to the second quarter. The Patriots run continued into the second frame, as the team built a 22-16 lead. Cousino took a 28-26 advantage into the locker room.

L'Anse Creuse, led by senior guard Jaylen Blackwell, who scored 22 points, regained the edge at 32-30 on a layup from junior forward Andrew Salter with 5:47 left in the third quarter. The Patriots took the lead for good at 33-32 in the third on a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Tyler Mack, who scored 14 points in the game.

The Lancers pulled to within seven points at 43-36 early in the fourth. That was followed by a 6-0 Patriots run to put the game away for good.

"It was important for us to get this win. We're trying to end the regular season on a good note," Asberry said.

Cousino's next game is against Warren Fitzgerald at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at home.

L'Anse Creuse will look to get back on track when it takes on New Haven at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 on the road.
