Clawson High

2013 Record: 7-3

July 29, 2014

at Armada High (2-7 overall) — 7 p.m. Aug. 28
Armada lost its final five regular-season games in 2013. These teams have never played before.

vs. Madison Heights Lamphere (1-8) — 7 p.m. Sept. 5
From 1961-2003, Lamphere and Clawson played one another every single year. This year’s game marks just the third meeting since and first since 2009.

vs. Mount Clemens High (4-5) — 7 p.m. Sept. 12
Six meetings in this rivalry — six Clawson wins.

at St. Clair High (11-2) — 7 p.m. Sept. 19
After three games against teams that have struggled recently, Clawson’s first big test of 2014 could come in St. Clair against a team that lost in the D-3 semifinals by a single point last fall.

vs. Warren Lincoln (4-5) — 7 p.m. Sept. 26
Clawson has won five in a row and 13 in the past 14 years against Lincoln.

at Clinton Township Clintondale (9-1) — 7 p.m. Oct. 3
There have only been four meetings between these teams, and two came in the 1960s. But the 2013 and 2012 games were not kind to Clawson, which fell 41-7 and 42-28, respectively.

vs. Center Line High (0-9) — 7 p.m. Oct. 10
Clawson has won four in a row against a Center Line team that has 13 wins since 2006 and none since beating Warren Lincoln on Oct. 14, 2011.

at New Haven High (2-7) — 7 p.m. Oct. 17
New Haven has struggled mightily, as well, losing six in a row to Clawson.

at Eastpointe East Detroit (2-7) — 7 p.m. Oct. 24
Clawson needed some late-game heroics to beat East Detroit 58-34 in Week 9 last year to clinch a playoff spot. East Detroit has won five games since 2011, but one of those was a 34-28 victory against Clawson in 2012 that kept the Trojans out of the playoffs.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day

Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
