Bloomfield Hills used a goal by Ethan Garcia with 18:36 to go and a shutout by Griffin Hamel to defeat Fraser 1-0 in a regional semifinal Tuesday night.
Garcia netted a volley shot from about 20 yards away when Fraser was unable to clear a corner kick.
"I looked up and it was going over the goalie, and it took about 10 seconds for me to believe it happened," Garcia said. "I was just going for broke. I still can't believe it went in. I've never hit a shot like that, and to do it at this time of the season is really something special."
Fraser had one last opportunity to tie the game, but Matt Lang's shot from 25 yards away with 35 seconds left deflected off Hamel's hand then off of the crossbar before being cleared by a Bloomfield Hills defender. Hamel finished the night with 11 saves.
Bloomfield Hills moves on to play Utica at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Grosse Pointe North in a regional final.
This was Fraser's first loss of the season, as the Ramblers ended the year with an 18-1-5 record. Lang closed the season with 27 goals, while keeper Alec Sharpe set a school record with 15 shutouts. Fraser gave up seven goals all season.
