FRASER — Fraser High will continue its unbeaten season into the second week of postseason play.
The Ramblers defeated Warren Cousino 6-0 in the district final held at Fraser Oct. 17. Prior to that, Fraser defeated Lakeview 1-0 in the opener and Warren De La Salle 3-1 in overtime.
In the De La Salle contest, the teams played to a scoreless tie through regulation before Fraser exploded for three goals in the extra sessions. Matt Lang scored twice in overtime, and Nathan East put away a penalty kick to give Fraser coach Thaier Mukhtar a win over his former team.
In 2012, Fraser lost 2-1 to De La Salle in the district semifinals.
Cousino was the Cinderella of the Fraser district, as the Patriots defeated East Detroit and upset Grosse Pointe North 4-1 to advance to the finals. In the regular season, North defeated Cousino by a combined score of 9-2 in two games. Cousino won one regular season game this year.
There would be no upset of the Ramblers for Cousino, as Fraser raced out to an early 4-0 lead and won 6-0. Justin Gray scored twice, while Lang, Zach Tosoian, Brian Mok and Nick Sharpe each scored once. Fraser keeper Alec Sharpe recorded the shutout.
Up next for Fraser will be a regional semifinal against Bloomfield High at Grosse Pointe North Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Chippewa Valley concluded its season with a 1-0 loss to Macomb Dakota (16-1-2) in the district semifinals. The Big Reds defeated L’Anse Creuse 1-0 in the district opener.
Chippewa finished the season with a record of 7-7-3. The Big Reds will be losing eight seniors this season. They are Dillon Doetsch, Grant Owen, Kevin Kimberly, Chris Johnson, Nick Giovannetti, Tyler Younes, Andy Ochs and Spenser Feld.
