Local teams eliminated in state boys soccer playoffs

Several local boys soccer teams saw their seasons come to an end in the 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association district playoffs.
Sterling Heights Stevenson — 15-1-2 overall and champions of the Macomb Area Conference Red Division — fell 2-1 to still undefeated Troy Athens in a Division 1 district semifinal played Oct. 16 at Athens. The Titans knocked off Troy High 1-0 in a D-1 district quarterfinal played Oct. 14 at Troy High.
Utica Ford II (7-8-4) fell 3-2 to Utica High in a D-1 district semi played Oct. 16 at Athens. Ford knocked off Sterling Heights High 4-1 in a quarterfinal played Oct. 14 at Sterling Heights. The Stallions end the season at 8-9-2.
Sterling Heights Parkway Christian saw its season end in a 6-0 loss to Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest in a D-4 district semifinal match played Oct. 16 at Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett. Parkway drew an opening-round bye. The Eagles end their season at 0-5.
Warren Cousino remained alive in the race for a D-1 district title, as it played Fraser High in a district final played after press time. The Patriots (3-14-2) beat East Detroit and Grosse Pointe North to advance to the final.
