Punching their ticket: Playoff picture becoming clearer for Macomb County teams after week seven
L'Anse Creuse North the latest team to earn 'lock status'

Macomb L'Anse Creuse North football team picked up its sixth win Oct. 11 in a 62-13 triumph over Port Huron Northern. That ensures the Crusaders will be a part of the 2013 MHSAA state playoffs. Pictured is LCN senior tight end Jacob Chattinger (2) during an Aug. 29 win over Warren Cousino.
With only two weeks remaining in the 2013 regular season, the playoff picture is starting to look a bit less foggy for a number of Macomb County football teams.
Seven Macomb Area Conference teams locked up spots in the 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association state football playoffs with wins in week six. With its win 62-13 win over Port Huron Northern Oct. 11, Macomb L'Anse Creuse North became the seventh Macomb County team to lock up a playoff spot.
Other county teams moved a win closer to earning lock status, while some squads suffered losses that could severely hamper their playoff hopes.
According to the MHSAA, for football, postseason inclusion is determined by wins and a computer point value, calculated for each team based upon its record and strength of schedule, with the top 256 teams (including all teams with six victories if playing a nine-game schedule) qualifying. These 256 teams are then ordered by enrollment and divided into eight divisions of 32 teams each.
Here is the fourth weekly installment of the C & G Sports MAC and county football playoff picture. Each week, we give you a snapshot of which local squads are in line for postseason berths. As always, we begin with teams that are now a lock to qualify for the postseason.

Should be in
Warren De La Salle: 5-2, 2-1 Catholic High School League Central Division — Since suffering a two-point loss to Birmingham Brother Rice in week four, the Pilots have out-scored their last three opponents 92-7 in three wins. DLS has Novi Detroit Catholic Central (6-1, 2-1 CHSL Central) on the slate next. The Shamrocks have had the Pilots' number of late, winning the last four in the series.
Warren Michigan Collegiate: 5-2, 4-1 Charter School Conference — The Cougars knocked off Detroit Old Redford Academy 24-20 Oct. 11 to get to five wins. The triumph was the first this season for Michigan Collegiate in a game decided by seven points or less. The Cougars get Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy (6-1, 5-0 Charter School League) this week in a matchup of the top teams in the Charter School League. Chandler Park Academy has won three of the last four in the series.
Port Huron High: 5-2, 4-0 MAC White — The Big Reds Oct. 18 host Warren Mott (7-0, 4-0 MAC White) in a battle that will decide the MAC White. Port Huron won the league by one game in 2012.
Warren Woods Tower: 5-2, 3-1 MAC Silver — Since starting 2012 0-5, the Titans are on a stretch where they've gone 9-2 and are one win away from clinching the program's first playoff berth since 2007. Tower finishes the regular season with matchups against St. Clair Shores South Lake (Oct. 18) and Mount Clemens (Oct. 25) — two teams it knocked off last season.
Clawson High: 5-2, 3-1 MAC Bronze — The Trojans are one win away from earning their first postseason berth since 2011. A one-point, 28-27 win over Warren Lincoln Oct. 11 made for a nice homecoming for Clawson fans and kept the team's playoff hopes strong.
